As we all know, spring is coming soon and we will all want to spend time outside. Creating a comfortable living space on a deck or patio will be perfect for spending time outside. With the use of furniture outdoor space becomes great additional living spaces and can increase the value of your home.
It is quite simple to make these spaces warm, comfortable and functional. Depending on where the deck can be found the decorative pieces should simulate the exterior of the house while giving it an indoor feel. When you choose the design inside it normally matches the existing paint or wallpaper, the same applies on the exterior. Choose items that compliment the exterior paint, brick or siding.
The amount of large pieces used should fit with enough room for walking and the room should have more air. You can always start with one large piece, for example if you would like to have meals in the space, purchase a dining table and chairs as the first large piece. As you might not know there are usually no more than six seats for an outside dining area. Also, do not forget that the furniture chosen should be a set that will withstand the elements if the area is not covered.
These pieces should be of a good quality, but that does not mean they are necessarily going to be expensive. There are certain times of the year when items can be purchased at discounted rates. Also many online stores will sell damaged pieces rather inexpensively and it would only take a touch of paint or stain to bring them back to original beauty.
Divide the space into two separate areas if possible. If room allow place the dining table and chairs on one side of the deck and a few comfy chairs and a small table on the opposite side of the patio or deck. By simply using color or design coordinating cushions on all seating the two sides will come together nicely.
Remember that before placing the furniture on the floor it may need to be painted or stained. There should be a sealer on the floor to protect it as well and this is important. Rugs and floor coverings look great on the deck or porch and will add additional color to the space. Using a large floor covering is a great way to add bright colors to the new family space and will protect the floor while giving comfortable feeling to the area.
Place all large pieces in areas that leave room for walking and socializing. Put some plants both large and small throughout the space to create a cozy garden look. This is a living space so items used for decoration should be similar to those you would use for a room inside.
Using furniture outdoor in previously non used areas have now become family gathering spots and is a great idea too. Another very nice addition to outdoor living areas are the fireplaces or wood burning heaters that are made for outdoor use. Having chairs or benches included in the yard will combine the porch living space to the garden and add more entertainment seating this is a greta idea.
